THERE IS NOTHING MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN THE LANDSCAPE OF THE HUMAN FACE

Expression

Every artist is encouraged to find and to express their inner spirit through their art.   As a portrait painter, it is not just my inner spirit that matters, but the inner spirit or soul of the sitter before me.  To capture that in a painting is paramount to a beautiful portrait.

Making it personal

Often what we wear or surround ourselves with are reflections of our personalities.  They can be subtle statements of who we are.  Part of portrait making to me is to find some of those statements of my sitter and incorporate them into the painting - making it personal.

likeness

As a classically trained artist, to paint what I see before me is of utmost importance.  It is not about my style or my brushwork that makes a good portrait, although they are very important.  The bottom line is, utilizing all that I bring to my art, did I capture the likeness of my sitter and hopefully more.

MY MISSION

As simple and dull as it may sound, my mission is to paint portraits that will bless those who commission them and those who I paint.  A well drawn figure and likeness is only part of the painting.  It may also include details of landscape and architecture, pets or animals, things that are meaningful to the sitter.
